William “Bill” G. Shaw

~~William “Bill” G. Shaw, 87, of the Madison area, peacefully passed away on April 29, 2017. A funeral service will be held at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St. in Chatham, NJ on Wednesday, May 3rd. Friends are invited to visit from 9:30 am to 11:30 am prior to an 11:30 service. A firemen’s procession will follow leading to the Somerset Memorial Park.

Born in Summit, the son of William and Viola (Egbert) Shaw, Bill spent most of his life in the Madison and Florham Park area as well as Virginia. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Bill was the owner of Speedex in Florham Park until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the Florham Park Volunteer Fire Dept. for 47 years. Bill enjoyed traveling and family vacations in New Hampshire.

Bill was the loving father of William Shaw (Mary), Gayle Shaw (Sara Treat), Pamela Castelot (David), Janice Cavanagh (Brian), and the late Glenn Shaw. He is also survived by his five grandchildren: Christopher and Matthew Shaw, Emily Castelot, Kristie (Kyle) Kotch, and Jenna Cavanagh. Bill is also survived by his sister Claire Joostema (Henry) and his brother Peter Shaw (Barbara), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by his longtime companion Judith Walden and her family, Brian Walden and Laina (David) Allen, and Laina’s children Veronica and Justin Verdecia. He is predeceased by his late wives, Miriam Carl Shaw and Eleanor Turner Shaw. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the St. Barnabas Burn Center, 94 Old Short Hills Rd, Livingston, NJ 07039.
