Virginia Igoe Tracy
07/18/1928 - 11/05/2018

Virginia Igoe Tracy, 90, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 5, in Vero Beach, Florida. The third of five daughters born to Joseph and Esther Igoe, of South Orange, NJ she graced the world on July 18, 1928. She graduated from the Marylawn School in 1946 and went on to receive her Associates degree from Georgetown Visitation.

Affectionately known as Ginger, she was a long-time resident of Short Hills, NJ where she raised five children whom she loved and adored. Ginger was an active member of the Short Hills Club, where she was an avid tennis player. She also enjoyed spending the summers at the beach in Bayhead and winters skiing in Wyndham with her family. A devout Catholic, she regularly attended church at St. Rose of Lima in Short Hills and St. James in Basking Ridge, where she lived after her children had grown.

Always impeccably dressed, she had enviable style and was never seen without a fashionable hat upon her head. She put this talent to good use by working for years at Saks Fifth Avenue. She later moved to Vero Beach, Florida where she belonged to the Grand Harbor Beach Club and volunteered for many years at the VNA Hospice.

An adventurous spirit with a zest for life, Ginger and her oldest sister Sally spent many years traveling the world. Some of her most memorable trips included an up close and personal view of lions on an African Safari, riding elephants in India, and floating down a river in Bali. However, her greatest joy was teaching her children and grandchildren about the traditions and cultures she had visited.

She is survived by five children (William Irwin Tracy III; Joseph Igoe Tracy, Peter Igoe Tracy, Mary Elizabeth O’Donnell and Robert Edward Tracy) and their spouses. She had eleven grandchildren (Ryan, Caitlin, Lauren, Margaret, Alexander, Christian, Nicole, William, Phillip, John, and Logan), whom she loved to spend time with and doted on, and two great-grandchildren (Christopher and Rowan). She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life Luncheon will be held on December 15 at Morris County Golf Club in Morristown, NJ.
