Theresa Smith Maul

Theresa Smith Maul passed away on June 17, 2024, in Springfield, N.J., from cancer.  Theresa was born in Newark, N.J., to James F. and Theresa E. Smith. She married Robert W. Maul, Sr., in 1977 and was the proud mother of Barbara Mulvee and her husband, Conner, Robert Maul Jr. and his wife, Rachel, and Carolyn Maul. Theresa’s family and friends will remember her for her strength, loyalty, and positive outlook.  She was a 1972 graduate of the Academy of St. Elizabeth and a 1976 graduate from Kean University with a bachelor’s degree in education. After a 10-year career in advertising, Theresa returned to teaching in 1995 at Christ Church Nursery School in Short Hills. She spent the last 24 years of her career as a preschool teacher at Edward V. Walton School in Springfield. Theresa was predeceased by her husband in 2020, her father in 2004 and mother in 2013. She is survived by her children and her siblings: Anne O’Connor and her husband, Jack, and Barbara Scureman and her husband, Art .In lieu of flowers, contributions to The Child Center of NY Early Childhood Fund would be appreciated. https://childcenterny.org/donate/
