~~Theodore ‘Ted’ Carter Straight, 86 passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 26, 2017. He and his loving (surviving) wife Ann moved to Chatham 53 years ago. They were married in May of 1955. Ted was a 1952 graduate of Amherst College and later earned an MBA from NYU. He was a three-year veteran of the Korean conflict and served as Lieutenant JG on a destroyer escort. He worked at NJ Bell in Newark–which later became Verizon– for 36 years.

Ted was a long-time member of Deer Lake Club, served on its Board of Governors for over 30 years and as its president for three years. While at Deer Lake, he won many sailing trophies and was most gratified to have won second place in the Pearl Harbor Senior Olympics in the 80’s.

Ted had three children (Charles who passed away September 2004; Cheryl and Susan) and four grandchildren (Avery, Nolan, Evan and Morris). He is also survived by his brother and brother’s wife (Ronald & Marylyn) and eighteen members of his brother’s family. Funeral Services will be held at Wm A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St, Chatham on Monday, February 6 at 11 am. The viewing is 2-4 pm Sunday, February 5.
