Teresa J. Degler, 91, of Chatham Borough passed away on January 12, 2019. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church, 85 Washington Avenue in Chatham on Friday, January 18th at 10am. Interment is private. Friends are invited to visit at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main Street in Chatham on Thursday, January 17th from 4 to 7pm. In Teresa’s memory, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090.
Born in Bayonne, New Jersey, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Witold and Katherine (nee Sloma) Okoniewski.
After graduating Bayonne High School in 1945, Terry worked as a clerk at the Bayonne Naval Base while putting herself trough nursing school. She met Edmund Degler while on vacation in the Catskills in 1952 and married May 23, 1953. Daughter Blair was born July 5, 1954 and son Kevin was born September 23, 1959. Ed and Terry were married for 63 years when Ed passed away on October 12, 2016.
Terry enjoyed reading, jeopardy and playing bingo in her spare time. She was a strong independent woman who will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was a parishioner of St. Patrick Church, Chatham, NJ.
She was the loving mother of Blair Davis and her husband Thomas of Granbury, TX and late Kevin Degler. She was the cherished grandmother of Raymond Krehn and wife Candice and their son, Owen Edmund Krehn of Highlands Ranch, CO. Terry was also the beloved aunt of Margaret Christopher, Ted Jantas, Don Jantas, Ellen Seel and Frank Zukowski.
