Sue Ann Idleman
11/29/1933 - 10/25/2020

Sue Ann Idleman, a long-time resident of Madison NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 25, 2020.  She had shared 86 years of unconditional love, laughter, and amazing memories with her beloved family and friends.

Born in Buffalo, NY to the late Dr. Charles & Irma O’Connor, Sue was a graduate of Allegheny College.  She went on to earn her M.Litt. from Drew University.  After moving to New York City to take on the world and indulge her love of Broadway entertainment, she met and married Lee H. Idleman in 1960.  They moved to Madison in 1965 where she lovingly raised her family of three boys.  Sue was a volunteer for the Friends of the Madison Public Library and an active member of the Thursday Morning Club.  She was an avid patron of the arts, and her philanthropy included support for various universities and public causes.

Sue is predeceased by her husband Lee, her son Douglas, and her grandson William.  She leaves behind her sons Christopher (Angela) Idleman of Lebanon, NJ and Scott (Elizabeth) Idleman of Mequon, WI, as well as daughter-in-law Maureen Idleman of Denville, NJ and seven grandchildren.

Sue will be interred with her husband at The Fair Mount Cemetery in Chatham, NJ.

Services will be private at this time, but a celebration of Sue’s life will be held in the spring.
Memorial Gifts:
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Sue’s honor may be made to the Friends of the Madison Public Library or the Madison Thursday Morning Club.
