Steven M. Benevento, 49, of Summit, New Jersey passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2014.

Steven was born on February 18, 1965 in Brooklyn, New York. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Carol (nee Pellerito) Benevento.

He was a 1987 graduate of State University of New York at Albany with a Bachelor of Science in Finance, summa cum laude and a 1991 graduate of New York University Stern School of Business with an MBA. Steven was a Beta Gamma Sigma honoree as both an undergraduate and graduate student and holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Steven was the Chief Investment Officer and co-founder of GoldPoint Partners. Prior to the formation of GoldPoint, Steven managed a portfolio of private equity, mezzanine and non-investment grade debt investments within New York Life’s Private Finance Group, where he started in 1995. Previously, Steven worked in the investment group of TIAA-CREF where he focused on debt and mezzanine investments in the private market.

He enjoyed playing golf, skiing, and spending time in Cape May, NJ with his family. Steven also enjoyed attending NY Giants games with his son, Jack.

He is survived by his loving wife, Laura Benevento and his children, Sydney and Jack Benevento of Summit, NJ. He is also survived by his parents, Carol and Frank Benevento of East Meadow, NY; brother, Richard and wife Angela Benevento of North Bellmore, NY; sister, Denise and husband Steve Puwalski of Manorville, NY; maternal grandmother, Jean Pellerito of East Meadow, NY; brother-in-law, Eric and wife Leslie Knutsen of Staten Island, NY; parent-in-laws, Harold and Carol Knutsen; and seven nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be Saturday, September 6, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 7, 2014 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Wm. A. Bradley and Son Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Chatham, NJ07928. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 8, 2014 at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 300 Shunpike Road, Chatham, NJ 07928.
