Sheila Sullivan Teschemacher of Morristown, NJ died peacefully at Garden Terrace Nursing Home, in Chatham, NJ on November 27, 2016, due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease.At the time of her passing, Sheila was surrounded by her family.

Born on July 29, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Marion and Raymond Sullivan. Sheila was raised in Scarsdale, NY, graduating from The Ursuline School in New Rochelle, NY and Trinity College in Washington, DC. It was there that Sheila met her husband-to-be Carl Teschemacher, whom she married in 1958.

Sheila and Carl raised their four daughters in Chatham Twp., NJ. Caring for them was Sheila’s greatest priority. She was a Girl Scout leader, a frequent coach for Chatham Twp. Athletic Association, and was active in the PTO. She was a long time parishioner of Corpus Christi Church, where she taught CCD. She was an active member of the Chatham Emergency Squad as well as a dedicated volunteer at Overlook Hospital and a member of the Chatham Twp. Twig. Sheila loved to sew, from making simple dresses for her daughters to designing and making her own gown for the Chatham Twp. Bicentennial Ball in 1978. She also made window treatments, and was known for her apple pies. Sheila was a tennis and paddle tennis player, and as an avid golfer was happy to have sunk a hole-in-one at Orchard Island Club. She was a was a member of Canoe Brook Country Club in Summit, NJ and John’s Island Club in Vero Beach, FL.

Sheila was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2001. Even while ill, she continued to be grateful for the beautiful years she had with Carl and her family. Sheila is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years and their four loving daughters and sons-in-law, Adrienne (Dillard) Kirby of Morristown, NJ; Sharon (Jack) Knightly of Chatham, NJ; Lauren (Rob) Casey of Winston-Salem, NC; and Corinne (Bill) Thygeson of Little Silver, NJ. She is also survived by her thirteen grandchildren whom she adored, Elizabeth and Stark Kirby; Jake, Kieran, Anna and Carlie Knightly; Sarah, Cameron, Robby and Caitlin Casey; and Grace, Lilly and Will Thygeson, as well as her sister-in-law, Eleanor McManus of Jupiter, FL, and many nieces and nephews. Sheila was pre-deceased by her sister Eileen Dezell of Towson, MD and her brother Rev. Raymond Sullivan, Maryknoll Missioner, of Ossining, NY.

Sheila’s family extends their gratitude to the Flemming Family and the compassionate staff at Garden Terrace Nursing Home for their dedicated care of Sheila. To celebrate Sheila’s life, a Mass of the Resurrection will be held at Corpus Christi Church, Chatham Twp., NJ at 10 am.on Wednesday, November 30, 2016. Interment Private.
