Sharon Simmons, 61, of Point Pleasant, NJ (formerly of Summit, NJ) passed away peacefully at home after a long illness on April 3, 2015.
Sharon was born in Georgia and raised in Wanamassa, NJ. She resided in Summit, NJ for many years before retiring to Point Pleasant. She was a Managing Director and member of the Executive Committee for Pershing, a BNY Mellon company. Prior to joining Pershing, she worked at Credit Suisse First Boston and Merrill Lynch’s Investment Banking Group. She was highly regarded by her colleagues, and helped many young people establish a career in the financial industry.
Sharon is survived by her son Terence Praet of Portland, Oregon, her significant other Henry Manger, her sisters Patricia Clayton and Colleen Roethe, her aunt Mary (Mae) Weafer, and her cousin Kathleen Tetley. Sharon is also survived by many other loving relatives and friends who treasured her love for life, strength and generosity.
A memorial visitation will be Tuesday April 7, from 6-9PM, and a memorial service will be held Wednesday April 8 at 10AM at Bradley, Brough & Dangler Funeral Home, 309 Springfield Ave, Summit. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of Sharon at PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
