Sharon Ann Kern, longtime resident of Chatham Borough, died April 02, 2020 of cancer. She was 72. Born July 10, 1947 in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Edward Kern and Muriel Dinan Kern Sentmier. Raised in Woodside Queens, NY and educated at Sacred Heart Academy located at Sag Harbor, NY from grade school through High School. She started work in New York City upon graduation.
She found a job with Equitable [now AXA] in pensions and taxes, where she spent over 20 years. She moved to Chatham in the late 1980’s. She loved cruises, especially cruises to her beloved Bermuda. She made many friends who then planned their vacation together. She lived on Main Street and made the most of the amenities of the Borough, especially the library.
Sharon was familiar to many in the Borough as the senior legal secretary and office manager at Stickel Frahn & Lloyd, LLC on Main Street. She continued to work at the law firm after normal retirement. An active mind with a keen understanding of life and its problems, common sense, practical solutions and a willingness to go toe-to-toe with the IRS made her a client favorite for over 28 years with the law firm.
She is survived by her younger sister, Dawn Sentmier, her nephew, Christopher Sentmier, and many cousins and friends. Donations in her memory can be made to the Chatham Emergency Squad or the Library of the Chathams. Family and friends will gather for a service of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2020 in Holy Rood Cemetery, 61 Whippany Road, Morristown, NJ 07960-4635.
