~~Ruth Feickert Gordon, of Pittstown, formerly of Short Hills, passed away at Hunterdon County Medical Center in Flemington on December 19, 2016. She was 87.
Born in Jersey City, Ruth grew up in Newark and graduated as valedictorian of her class from Weequahic High School.
After marrying William Gordon, she and her husband resided in Hillside for 17 years before moving to Short Hills, where she lived for over 40 years.
Ruth taught Sunday School for 10 years when she was first married and later was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church in Union.
An avid antique collector, Ruth turned this into a small antique business with her husband. They sold mostly at local shows, as well as in Lambertville, New Jersey.
She maintained her yard to a park-like appearance and loved working in her garden, as well as all things nature oriented. She collected rocks, shells and took photos of the wildlife that would show up in her yard.
Ruth was the beloved wife of the late William. She was the loving mother of Evelyn Skierski and her husband Frank of Pittstown and William Gordon and his wife Ingrid of Summit and the cherished grandmother of Jessica, Sarah and David Skierski and Ellie and William Gordon.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, December 23, 2016 at Bradley, Haeberle and Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Ave., Union, followed by an interment at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union. Friends may call on Thursday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home.
