Chubb Retiree, Active Volunteer, and Friend

Ruth E. (Kaffke) Eckle, 87, of Tinton Falls, NJ (formerly of Springfield) passed away peacefully, on Friday, Dec. 20, at the Seabrook Retirement Community.

Born and raised in Union, along with her identical twin sister, Ruth was the daughter of Herman and Emma Kaffke, immigrants from Germany. She was predeceased by Dr. Leonard Eckle, her beloved husband of 62 years, and cousins Hannelore Schragle of Union and Fritz Schneider of Germany. She is survived by her twin sister Evelyn, of Greensboro, NC, nephew Dr. James Sturm of Princeton, NJ, and niece Katherine Mitchell of Herndon, VA, and will be missed by many loving and loyal friends.

Ruth will be remembered for her wit, fun, and positive and generous spirit in the lives of all she touched. During her career at Chubb Insurance Company, she was a Personal Lines Underwriter and Administrative Assistant to the VP of Global Markets. She was a member of the Literary Volunteers of America, served as Vice-President of the Ladies Division of the Deutscher Club in Clark and was actively involved in various clubs at Seabrook. She and Leonard enjoyed life to the fullest; they were avid international travelers and once hosted the Greek ambassador at their Springfield home. They enjoyed entertaining with an extended family of special friends.

Services will be Friday, Dec. 27, 10:30 AM with visitation at 10:00, at Haeberle and Barth, 1100 Pine Ave, Union. In lieu of flowers please send donations in Ruth’s name to Seabrook Benevolent Fund, 3000 Essex Rd., Tinton Falls, NJ, 07753, or charity of your choice.
