~~Ruth Olsen, 97, of Chatham Township passed away at her home on January 24th. A Celebrant Service will be held at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St, Chatham on Saturday, February 1st at 11:00am. Interment is private. Friends are invited to visit on Thursday from 2 to 4pm and Friday from 6 to 9pm.
Born in Jersey City, Ruth was a lifelong resident of Chatham Township where she graduated from Chatham High School in 1933. She had worked for many years as an executive secretary at Ciba-Geigy in Summit until her retirement in 1978. Ruth was a charter member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and a member of the Chatham Township Seniors. Ruth enjoyed travelling and spending time with her family especially on Squam Lake in New Hampshire.
Ruth was the beloved wife of 57 years to the late Walter Olsen. She was the loving mother of David Olsen and his wife Joanne of Concord, NH and Alan Olsen and his wife Diane of Cranford. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Hilary, Britt, Kimberly and Timothy and great grandchildren, Owen, Hadley and Griffin. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to the Chatham Emergency Squad, 45 Spring St, Chatham, NJ 07928.
