Ruby M. Tomlinson, 81, of Union and formerly of Irvington, New Jersey passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014.
Ruby was born on October 8, 1932 in Port Antonio, Jamaica. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Cecil and Estreana (nee Lewis) Hull.
Ruby was a member of the Irvington United Methodist Church where she volunteered in the community outreach program. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking.
She is predeceased by her loving husband, Carnegie Tomlinson. She is survived by three children; Monique Tomlinson, Frederick Mendes, and Collin Tomlinson. She is also survived by six siblings; Anthonette Brand, Sharon Nelson, Geneva Johnson, Lavern Collins, Denise Hull, and Debra Brown. She was the loving grandmother to Anya Gentles, Jahqueay Dunn, Amiyah Lowe, Charmain Mendes, Sharon Mendes, Denise Gentles and seven great-grandchildren. She leaves a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her son, Errol Gentles.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit Bradley, Haeberle, & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Ave. Union, NJ on Friday, March 28, 2014 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. A brief visitation will take place at church beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday until the time of service. A funeral service will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the Irvington United Methodist Church, 37 Union Ave., Irvington, NJ. An entombment will follow in Hollywood Memorial Park, Union, NJ.
