Roy H. Kirch, Jr.
A lifelong resident of New Jersey
Roy H. Kirch, Jr. passed away peacefully on March 13, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Lillian Nelles Kirch, his son Roy H. Kirch, III (daughter-in- law Barbara Steinen Kirch), and his daughters Linda Kirch Knight and Ellen Taylor Kirch. He was pre-deceased by his son, Jeffrey Dieffenbach Kirch. Roy is also survived by two grandsons and one granddaughter.
Roy Kirch was born in Newark, NJ on November 11, 1921, the second son of Roy and Vera Kirch. He was raised in Maplewood, NJ and graduated from Columbia High School. He graduated from Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH with a BA in English and served in the US Navy during WWII aboard the battleship USS Indiana in the South Pacific theater.
Roy Kirch had a successful business career both in a family owned retail business and later as an institutional stockbroker serving clients in the New Jersey and Pennsylvania area. He was an avid bridge player, enjoyed tennis and paddle tennis, and traveled extensively with his wife. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Services will be private, and a burial at sea will be performed by the United States Navy.
