Roderick C. Rasmussen of Convent Station died at home on Thursday, May 10, 2012. He was 85 years old. Born and raised in Wheaton, IL, he lived in California and Verona, NJ, before moving to Convent Station 17 years ago.
Roderick was a first generation American and WWII Vet who served in Okinawa. He was a graduate of Adelphi University, Long Island, NY. Roderick was an Investment Advisor at Continental Insurance and served on the Board of Directors for Smith Barney in New York before he retired. He was a long-time member of the Essex Fells Country Club.
Roderick was predeceased by his first wife Ruth (Schwamberger); and is survived by his wife Patricia (Fairchild) and children: Carol & her husband John Ganning of Wall, NJ, Eric Rasmussen & his wife Susan of Hilton Head, SC, Sharon & her husband Robert Kiss of Chatham, NJ, Elizabeth Gomes of Basking Ridge and Janet & her husband Carl Groves of Hopewell, NJ. Roderick is also survived by his grandchildren: Elizabeth, Katie, Tricia, Patrick & Tommy Ganning; Thayer, Geoffrey & Brent Rasmussen; Brandon, Jonathan & Tyler Kiss; Steven, Brian, Sarah & Christian Gomes; and Christopher, Kaitlin & Devin Groves.
