Bob “Pappy” Vander Ploeg Sr.

Robert Vander Ploeg Sr., 80, died suddenly at his home on Dec. 29th, 2015. Robert was a lifelong New Jersey resident and community fixture in the Oak Ridge section of West Milford for over 50 years of his life.

Born in North Haledon, served in US Navy during the Korean War on the submarine USS Bergall. He was the Fleet Manager for Fredrick’s Fuel and retired in 1995.

Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Jean Vander Ploeg. His four children Robert Jr., Michael, Michele, and Dan. Grandfather of 7.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours to be held at the Freedom Church on Sunday Jan. 3, 2015 between 3pm and 8pm located at 145 Oak Ridge Road, Oak Ridge, NJ 07438. A funeral will be held on Monday January 4, 2015 at 10 am, also at the Freedom Church, and proceeding to the Oak Ridge Presbyterian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Freedom Church.
