Richard A. Daniel, “Dick”, 84, of Springfield, passed away on February 19, 2019. Born and raised in New York City, Richard attended Columbia University, where he earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees, and ultimately his Ph.D in chemical engineering. After college, Dick moved to Delaware, where he worked for DuPont. Dick lived in Westfield and Metuchen before settling in Springfield in 1971. Dick has worked for Celanese in Summit for 30 years. He loved reading and was fond of sports.
Predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth; Dick is survived by his wife of 57 years, Anne; his sons, Thomas and Robert and his wife Sharon; grandchildren Matthew, Erika, Ryan, Colin and Jenna; brother William and his wife Oda; niece Diana and nephew Edward.
There will be a visitation on Sunday, February 24, 2019 from 3-7pm at the Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Avenue, Springfield. Funeral Service and Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Dick may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church, 559 Raritan Road in Clark, NJ 07066
