Ricardo J. Batista, 86, of Westfield, NJ, passed peacefully on August 2, 2015. Born in Holguin, Cuba, Ricardo lived in Basking Ridge and Summit before moving to Westfield 20 years ago. Ricardo received his degree in engineering from the University of Havan. He was a banker for 45 years, starting in his twenties in Cuba.When he came to the United States he worked for First Fidelity Bank in East Orange, before retiring at the age of 65. Ricardo was a Mason in Cuba. He is survived by his wife Aida Batista (nee Rodriguez), three children Aida M.B. Strasser, Ana Verrusio and Ricardo J. III., 10 grandchildren, Christopher Strasser, Arielle Verrusio, Michael Verrusio, Rick Batista, Justin Batista, Noelle Verrusio, Vincent, Michael, Brittany & Nicholas Ingrassia and four siblings, Magdalena Perez, Miriam Reyes, Magalys Batista & Rolando Batista. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 10:45 am at St. Teresa of Avila Church, Morris Ave, Summit. Interment St. Teresa’s Cemetery. Visiting hours Wednesday, 4 to 8 pm at Bradley Brough & Dangler Funeral Home, 309 Springfield Ave, Summit.
