Ralph R. Sanders, 93, of Monroe Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2019. A Chapel Service will be held at Brigadier General Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery , 350 Provinceline Rd., Wrightstown, NJ on Wednesday, October 30th at 11:00am.
Born in Newark, the son of Russian immigrant parents, Irving and Clara ( Shapiro) Sanders, Ralph graduated from Weequahic High School in Newark. He had also lived in Scotch Plains and Monmouth Beach before moving to Monroe twenty years ago. Ralph proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. He was President at the family business, celebrating its 100th year, Sanders Roofing Co., Inc. in Union, and a proud member of Roofers Local 4. A past Exalted Ruler of the Elks in Scotch Plains and Mountainside, in his earlier years, Ralph was a Boy Scout leader and little league coach. He enjoyed travel and trips on his yacht, the Ottilie S. and playing poker at the Ponds with his poker crew.
Ralph was the beloved husband of 62 years to the late Ottilie. He was the loving father of Richard and his loving companion Colleen, the late Matthew and the late Paul, cherished grandfather of Richard, Ericka, Brielle and her loving companion Andrew Kanniard, Amy Lee, Matthew, Kimberly, and Lee Taylor, great grandfather of Luke Matthew, Addison, William, and the late Brennan. He is also survived by nephew Michael Sanders, niece Cheryl Sanders and cousin Brett Sanders as well as many loving cousins and all other relatives and close friends. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ralph’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
