Philip Tate Sproul

Philip Tate Sproul was born July, 9 1915 in Des Moines IA, and passed away Dec. 20, 2011 at East Windsor, NJ. He was son of Philip H. and Helen (Tate) Sproul. He graduated from Roosevelt HS and the Iowa State College, Electrical Engineering Dept. in 1937. He was recruited by Bell Labs and worked in their Research and Development dept. for 43 years retiring in 1980. He married Virginia G. Shivers, of Des Moines, on Aug 26 1938 and they lived most of their married life in Chatham, NJ. He was active in the Chatham and Madison Presbyterian Churches, The Summit Old Guard, the Chatham Board of Recreation, The American Radio Relay League, Fairmont Country Club, The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, The Iowa State University Foundation and the Madison Lodge # 93 F&AM where he served as RW Grand Master. He also served as RW District Deputy Grand Master of the 11th District of NJ. He enjoyed golf, woodworking, photography, amateur radio, and traveling. In 1999 they moved to Meadow Lakes in East Windsor, NJ where Virginia passed away in 2000. Phil was very involved in his retirement community and joined the Hightstown Apollo Lodge #41 F&AM and the Nassau Club at Princeton.

He was also predeceased by his sister Jane Woods. He is survived by nieces, nephews, and many friends.
