~~Patricia Mary (Policastro) Thimou, 71, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, after long periods of illness. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Bradley, Haeberle, & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Avenue in Union, N.J.
She is survived by her son Theo, daughter-in-law Cynthia, and beloved grandchildren Mason and Sierra. Her loving sister Bernice spent years advocating for her medical needs as her health failed. She was born in Newark, though she lived much of her life in Union, where she worked as a Weichert real estate agent.
Patricia had a zest for living that was clear in her affection toward people, her gift of gourmet cooking, and her exceptional voice and love of song—particularly Broadway musicals. She was an aspirational antiques collector, a self-described “incurable romantic,” and she possessed a remarkable affinity for Chinese culture.
An idealist at heart, Patricia said it best in her final Twitter post when she noted, “…Keep love in your heart—always.” Let it be remembered that she always loved people for who they were, not for who they would or should become.
