Olga Fanok, nee Mazurek, 89, died at her residence in Denville, NJ on Jan. 7 2012. She was born in Newark, and lived in Carteret, Newark, Whippany, and most recently Denville.
Olga graduated from Newark State Teacher’s College in 1942. She taught well over 1, 000 1st-4th grade students for 39 years in Freehold Twp, Orange, Morristown, and most recently at The Harding Twp School, from 1965-1984. She kept in touch with many of her former students, and said it was rewarding to have been a part of helping them grow. She was a member of the Teacher’s Club of Montclair, Women’s Club of Morristown, and Red Hats of Morristown. Olga loved to travel, cook, socialize, spend time with her grandsons and her beloved dog, Zoey.
Previously deceased is her husband Walter Fanok and daughter Joyce Gurian. Grandmother of Scott Gurian of NJ and Drew Gurian of CT, a sister Florence Genoble of SC, and several nieces and nephews.
