Olga Melbourne

Olga Melbourne, 94, of Union, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2012 at her home, after a brief illness.

Born and raised in New York City, Olga graduated from the Hunter College High School. She began her career with Texaco, where she worked for several years. In 1955, Olga and her husband William moved to Union, where Olga worked as an administrative assistant with the Union Police Department. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, as well as the Union Senior Citizen’s Club.

Olga was an avid knitter, crocheter, reader and fan of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She was known for her roast chicken, potato salad and pierogies.

Predeceased by her beloved husband William T. Melbourne, and sister Helena Perfetti, Olga is survived by her daughters Mary A. Hausman, and Kathleen Bagnati and her husband Thomas; grandchildren Brett Hausman and his wife Susan, Jamie Hausman, and Brittany Bagnati; and her great granddaughter Alexis Hausman. Olga is also survived by her caretaker, Cecilia Phillips.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at St Michael’s Church, 1212 Kelly Street in Union at a time to be announced. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Bradley, Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Ave., Union.
