Nancy Leighninger Perley, age 63, of Whippany, NJ, formerly of Salt Point, NY, went home to be with the Lord on May 24, 2020.
Nancy was born in Arcadia, California to George and Ruth (Joens) Leighninger. She received a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Purdue University, where she was also a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. In 1985, she moved to the Poughkeepsie area. In 1992, she began working at Poughkeepsie Savings Bank, which eventually transitioned to TD Bank, and she remained with the company for more than 20 years. She enjoyed meeting new people and building relationships with local businesses.
Nancy had a fantastic sense of humor; she had a collection of funny jokes in her office and loved to send them to friends and colleagues via email and in birthday cards. She had a sweet tooth, especially for chocolate chip cookies, and believed there was no bad time to have dessert, even after breakfast! Nancy loved to garden, take walks, and feed the birds. She will always be known by her daughter as the best Mom in the entire world. She was very proud of her two granddaughters, and often carried a “brag book” of photos wherever she went.
She is predeceased by her mother, Ruth (Joens) Leighninger and her father, George Leighninger. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Kevin) Ku, granddaughters Kaitlyn and Grace, brother Bruce Leighninger, and longtime partner Carmine Palombo.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 29, 2020 in Chatham, NJ. Condolences may be sent to Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main Street Chatham, NJ 07928.
