Mildred Shaw

~~Mildred Shaw (nee Chianca), 77, of Morris Plains, NJ, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, after a yearlong battle with cancer. Mildred was born in Newark, NJ to Louis and Carmella (nee Lardieri) Chianca.

Mildred grew up in Newark and attended Barringer High School. She graduated in 1955 and immediately began employment with NJ Bell Telephone Company in a clerical position. Later during the course of her employment she attended Montclair State University. Her extensive career spanned over 30 years and she retired from Bell Atlantic as a contract specialist. Mildred enjoyed craft fairs, her favorite being the Kutztown Folk Festival. She collected quilts, baskets, enjoyed crossword puzzles, and was an avid reader. Mildred was a wonderful baker. Family and friends looked forward to receiving special tins filled with her cookies.

Mildred Shaw was the beloved wife of the late Floyd “Flip” Shaw, who passed away last August. Mildred is survived by her son, Gasper Cascio and his wife, Nancy. She is also survived by her former daughter in law, Maria G. Cascio, an extended family, loving neighbors, and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 8, 2015 at Notre Dame of Mt. Carmel Church in Cedar Knolls, NJ. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ, after the Mass. Family and friends can visit at Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Rd., Whippany on Sunday from 5-9 pm.
