Michael Ilczyszyn, 87, of Cedar Knolls passed away at the home of his daughter in Whippany on December 15th. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 60 N. Jefferson Rd, Whippany on Wednesday, December 19th at 10am. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Rd, Whippany on Tuesday from 5-9pm with Parastas at 8pm.
Born and raised in Romashivka, Ukraine, Michael immigrated to Newark in 1956. He had also lived in Irvington before moving to Cedar Knolls in 1987. Michael had worked at Wakefern Food Corp in Elizabeth for many years before his retirement in 2000. He was an active volunteer with St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in both Newark and Whippany. Michael enjoyed working around the house and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Michael was the beloved husband of 47 years to the late Stefanie. He was the loving father of Maria Shatynski and her husband Joseph. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Julianna, Ariana, and Nicholas as well as many relatives in both the U.S. and Europe. His sister Ksenia Ilczyszyn and brother Nicholas Ilczyszyn died previously. Donations in Michael’s memory may be made to the St. John Ukrainian Church Building Fund, 60 N.
