Mary (Oberlies) Welsh passed on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Overlook Hospital, Summit, NJ.
Relatives and friends may visit on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Avenue, Springfield, NJ 07081. The funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at St. James Church, Springfield, NJ. Entombment to follow at the Gethsemane Gardens Mausoleum at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union, NJ.
Born in Newark on August 3, 1928, Mary lived there for twenty-one years. She also lived in Caldwell, Vailsburg, Union, and then in Springfield. She taught at St. Aloysius School, Caldwell, NJ for nineteen years and thereafter worked for nineteen years at N.J. Bell Telephone Company where she retired in 1989 as an Assistant Manager in Support Services.
Mary was predeceased by her parents Mary and Frank Oberlies, her husband Robert Welsh, and her sister Margaret Hickey. She is survived by her sister Bernice McCarthy, her brother Frank Oberlies, her nephew Patrick McCarthy and Patrick’s son Jakob. She is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
