Mary D. Pfarr

Mary Dorothea (Dot) Pfarr, 101, of Union NJ, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2019. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael the Archangel, 1212 Kelly St, in Union, on Tuesday, August 20th at 10:15am.  Interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park.  Friends are invited to visit at Bradley, Haeberle & Barth, 1100 Pine Ave. in Union on Monday from 4 to 8pm.

Born in New York City, the daughter of William and Catherine (Donoghue) Johnston, Dot was raised in Newark where she graduated from South Side High School.  She had lived in Union since 1946.  A homemaker, in her early years Mary worked as a model for Richard Hudnut Cosmetics and later for Weston Electrical Instruments Company in Newark, which manufactured products in support of the war effort.  She was a charter member of St. Michael’s Church and a member of the Seniors Group.  Mary was an avid Yankees and NY Giants fan.  She enjoyed gardening and travel but most of all she loved being with her family.

Dot was the beloved wife of 50 years to the late Robert D.  She was the loving mother of Robert (Regina), Richard, Donald (Donna), Gary (Janice), Elizabeth Pencinger (Donald) and Marianne Rispoli (Larry).  She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Pamela Kromar (Kevin), Michael Pfarr ( Kristin), Lauren Thomas (Matt), Richard Pfarr, Katie Phillips (Justin), Suzanne Morley (Terence), Matthew Pfarr, Jenna Pfarr, Daniel Pencinger, and Jessica Casale (Matt) and great grandchildren, Luke Kromar, William Kromar, Ryan Thomas, Madison Thomas, Michael Pfarr, Jr., Richard Pfarr, Olivia Morley, and Cole Casale.  She is predeceased by her siblings, Ruth DiOrio, William Johnston, James Johnston, Elizabeth Hemmer and Gladys Grum.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to VNA Hospice, 23 Main St., Suite D-1, Holmdel, NJ  07733
