Maria C. DiIonno “Mary,” 80, of Short Hills passed away on October 30, 2019. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Ave. in Short Hills on Wednesday, November 6th at 10am. Interment will follow at the Presbyterian Church of Springfield Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit at Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Ave. in Springfield on Tuesday from 4 to 8pm.
Born in Millburn, the daughter of Carmine and Rosario (Ricciardi) DiIonno, Mary was an alumnus of Millburn High School. She had a forty year career in the insurance industry which included the firms Aetna, Meeker Sharkey, and Brown & Brown, Inc. A longtime parishioner at St. Rose of Lima, Mary enjoyed gardening, the fall foliage and taking long walks. She loved animals especially her cats, RJ, Chrissy and Boo.
Mary was the beloved wife of 47 years to Lewis. She was the dear sister of Mafalda Yuro (the late Raymond), Carmine DiIonno (Arlene) and predeceased by Doris Franciosa (Anthony). Mary was also the favorite aunt to, Debbie Henry (John), Raymond Yuro (Mark), Darlene Whitney (Tom), Raynard Yuro (Beth), Donna Magliulo, Robert DiIonno (Joanne), Lucy Ann Franciosa, Nicholas Franciosa, and Rosemary Franciosa. She is also survived by 16 great nieces and nephews and 2 great-great nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
