Mark James Kirk
07/12/1962 - 04/25/2016

A beloved Husband and Father Mark J. Kirk died peacefully on Monday, April 25, 2016 in his home Union, New Jersey. He passed away due to multiple myeloma with complications and stage renal failure. Mark was born on July 12, 1962 in Wisconsin to mother, Edna Mae Kratochvil Fillmer married to Gerhard “Gary” Fillmer and father, Gilbert Michael Kirk married to Deborah “Debbie” Kirk who survives him. Also surviving him is Mark’s siblings Steve married to Jana Kirk from Prague, Czech Republic, Richard Krukowski living in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, David, Thomas and Jimmy Kirk in Dallas, Texas. In San Diego, his sister Michelle married to Jedediah Rawson and all his nieces and nephews.

In November 2008, Mark married Femi Salinas Kirk. They had a joyous celebration at the Venetian in Garfield, NJ that everyone who attended will never forget. It was a party for the ages. Femi survived him along with their two beautiful children Abigaile De Mesa (29) and Oscar Kirk (13). Femi and Mark were inseparable. The two of them loved to read, garden, watch their many favorite shows, travel, and eat. They always love to take their vacation trips to the Philippines (they went three times). Their most recent tour and favorite memory was when they traveled through 100 Islands National Park in August 2014. Abigaile and Oscar were with them during the trip, and no cliff or beds of giant clams were too fearsome for their enthusiasm.

For eleven years, Mr. Kirk worked as Baltic Marketing Director for Media House. Before leaving Estonia, he changed his career to a strict IT role and trained himself as an Oracle Database Administrator. It was one of his hardest decisions to make, but he was rewarded by a leading position at the national power company/telephone company.

Mark was full of energy, positive spirit, and a smile that would always brighten up the room. He was easy going, fun to engage a conversation with, and loved life to the fullest. Mark’s battle with cancer for about 11 years was a true testament of how strong he was and how he never gave up. He will be greatly missed by his family, close friends, and those who have encountered him at a moment in time.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Bradley, Haeberle & Barth Funeral Service, 1100 Pine Avenue, Union, NJ 07083. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mark’s name can be directed to American Red Cross, 389 Millburn Ave, Millburn, NJ 07041. We encourage to wear white to celebrate his new life with the Lord.
