Marjorie T. Dukes of Union died at Manor Care Health Services in New Providence on Tuesday, January 1, 2013. She was 90 years old. Born in Riverdale, MD, she moved to Union when she was young, lived in Washington DC during part of WWII and returned to Union to raise her family.


Marjorie was predeceased by her husband John L Dukes, son John T Dukes and is survived by her daughters, Virginia Lee Mudrak of Sewaren & Margaret Ann Dukes of Gillette, grandchildren, Michael and his wife Carolina Mudrak, James Mudrak & Paul Mudrak (US Navy), great grandchildren, Michael Arthur Mudrak, Michael Augustine Mudrak II, Paul Jack Mudrak, Elvi Valenzuela & Vicel Guzman and great-great grandchild Balian Guzman.


Marjorie’s life was filled with enthusiasm and curiosity; she appreciated beauty & excellence and loved to be dressed fashionably with colorfully coordinated jewelry and apparel. A poetry and music lover, especially opera, she loved to write and had over 100 pen pals whom she kept in touch with until recently. A communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church in Union, and a member of the Third Order of Carmelites, she was also a member of the Rosary Society, and in the 1950’s regularly attended Friday evening novenas and helped setup a Religious Library. A recent resident of the Atria Assisted Living in Cranford, she was a member of the welcoming committee and the book club.
