Marijayne Favata passed away peacefully on January 28, 2020, after a brief illness. She is the beloved mother of James J. Favata and daughter-in- law, Elizabeth F. Favata of Chatham, NJ. Marijayne was born and raised in New York, but was a resident of Clifton, New Jersey for over fifty years.
Marijayne worked as bookkeeper for much of her life and prided herself on her organizational skills and expert record-keeping. In addition, she had a passion for sewing. She was a member of both the American Sewing Guild (ASG) and locally, the Clifton Clippers Sewing Club. She was a very talented seamstress and created many beautiful bridal party dresses (including her daughter-in-law’s wedding dress), communion dresses, veils and doll clothes. She also performed expert alterations for people on anything that needed to fit better! This work brought her great joy and satisfaction as she truly enjoyed helping others.
Marijayne also volunteered as a counselor for the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. In this role, she helped her fellow retirees navigate aspects of their Medicare services. Marijayne also loved to drive and was proud of her New York-style driving skills and her ability to navigate. She would often volunteer to drive her friends who were not as comfortable behind the wheel. Marijayne will be greatly missed by her family, friends and by all those whose lives she touched.
