Maria T. Caicedo, 71, of Chatham, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 28, 2018 surrounded by her family.
Maria was born on February 27, 1947 in Ginebra, Colombia. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maximo and Maruja (nee Castro) Tascon.
Maria went to the University of El Valle where she graduated with a degree in Public Relations. She emigrated from Colombia in 1981 and moved with her husband to Houston, TX where they lived for 7 years before settling in Chatham, NJ in 1988.
She taught Spanish privately for over 20 years and also taught at the County College of Morris for several years. In her spare time, Maria enjoyed cooking, hiking and swimming. She loved caring for others and was always so thoughtful.
Maria is survived by her beloved husband, Carlos Caicedo. She was the loving mother of Maurice, Natalie, and Sandra. In addition, she is survived by her siblings; Clara Isabel, Blanca Lucia, Julia Maria, Edwardo Jose, and Miguel Santiago Tascon. She was predeceased by her brother, Luis Enrique Tascon.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Corpus Christi Church, 234 Southern Blvd., Chatham, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to ECLC of New Jersey, http://www.eclcofnj.org/.
