Margaret B. Meade (Demm) passed away at home with family on October 30, 2015
Margaret is predeceased by her loving husband Louis .
Margaret is survived by their 5 children Liz Meade, Louis Meade Jr., Mark Meade, Margaret Meade-Hariri (Robert Hariri ), and John Meade (Lisa Wesolowski-fiance).
Grandchildren, Lauren Meade, Shaun Meade, Alexandra Hariri, Jack Hariri, Haley Hariri and Kyra Ernst.
She is predeceased by her sisters: Mary Costa and Therese Sbano along with her brothers Vincent and George Demm.
Margaret was born on December 27, 1931 in Manhattan, NY. A child of the Depression she worked hard, never compromising her values to accomplish her dreams. After having 5 children, she earned a BA from Brooklyn College graduating summa cum laude and a Masters Degree from Richmond College. She taught at St. Marks School in Brooklyn then took a job at the NYC Housing Authority where she excelled, and retired as the District Manager – Manhattan South. After moving to NJ she worked with handicapped young adults as a Job Coach at ECLC in Chatham. Family first, she invested in an idea that became a great success, Lifebank. She was a devoted mother of 5 and grandmother of 6, all were the light of her life. She was kind and gentle yet still fought valiantly and unrelentingly against her cancer, always with dignity and grace. She never gave up. She had many friends and enjoyed getting together with them. She loved books and reading and art and nature, but most of all she loved her family. So far ahead of her time, a woman of substance of quiet courage of dignity and grace, she made the world a much better place and will be dearly missed.
A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2015 at St. Patrick’s Church, 85 Washington Avenue, Chatham, NJ 07928. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Chatham NJ library or to your local library.
