Madeline E. Soccodato, (nee DeFonce), 58 of Chatham Township, NJ, passed peacefully on August 11, 2016. Born in Bridgeport and raised in Trumbull, Ct., Madeline has lived in Chatham Township since 1989. She is a graduate of the College of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station. Madeline was a Theology teacher for 12 years at Mount St. Mary Academy in Watchung. Prior to that, she taught at Oratory Preparatory School in Summit. Madeline was a volunteer and a CCD educator at Corpus Christi Church. Also as a volunteer she loved serving as a Eucharist minister to the Juniper Village seniors, participating with the students during their Kirois retreats, and cooking for the Chatham Twp. Firefighters while they served the community during storms. She is pre-deceased by her parents, Thomas J & Madeline McNiff DeFonce and four brothers, T.J., Ralph, Jimmy, and Chuck. Madeline is survived by her husband of 27 years, Andy Jr., her two sons, Andrew T. & James P., brothers, Bobby, Jack & Billy, her sisters-in-law, Kay and Roberta DeFonce, Carolyn Martin, Cindy Nead & Christine Soccodato and her mother-in-law, Mary Jean Soccodato. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 10 am at Corpus Christi Church, Chatham Township. Interment St. Teresa’s Cemetery. Visiting hours Sunday, 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Wm.
