Leonard G. Niro

Leonard (Len) G. Niro, 84 of Manalapan, NJ, formerly of Chatham, NJ, passed peacefully on December 11, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born and raised in Newark, NJ where he attended West Side High School. Len lived in Chatham for over 40 years before moving to Manalapan in 2014. Len served proudly in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. After the service he worked for Haenssler Sheet Metal and Local #28 Sheet Metal Workers Union for over 40 years. Len was a master craftsman at any project he tackled, along with maintaining the greenest grass on Weston Avenue, and official connoisseur of the finest provolone in the world. He is pre-deceased by his wife, Dorothy Kaminsky Niro, his parents, Antonio and Josephine Montemurro Niro and his brother Michael Niro. He is survived by his 4 children, Michael A., Thomas A. and his wife Lynn, Karen M. Niro, and Robert A. and his wife Patricia. He was the loving grandfather of Michael, Jenna, Steven, Danielle, Matthew, Meghan, Katelyn, Carly and Jack. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 16, 2019 at 11 am at St. Patrick’s Church, 85 Washington St. Chatham, NJ. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Visiting hours, Sunday, 4 pm to 8 pm at the Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St. Chatham, NJ.
