Leo Cahalan, Jr., of Union, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2013. He was 87 years old.
Born in Newark, NJ, Leo lived in Union for more than 80 years. He was the owner of Falls & Cahalan Butcher Shop which was located in Newark and then in Chatham before his retirement in 1983.
An avid reader, Leo was also known for always being impeccably dressed, with an affinity for nice clothes, ballroom dancing with his beloved wife, Annette, and watching his favorite New York Yankees.
Leo is predeceased by his parents, Leo Cahalan, Sr. and Anna (Reilly) Cahalan, and sister, Dorothy Cahalan Brennan. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 65 years, Annette (Magliaro) Cahalan; son, Leo Cahalan, III and his wife Susan of Alabama; daughter, Kathy Kachelriess and her husband Tom of Randolph, NJ; daughter Eileen Baker and her husband Bob of Hampton, NJ; grandson Leo Cahalan, IV and his wife Lesley of North Carolina; grandson Kyle Cahalan and his wife Courtney of Alabama; granddaughter Tara Kachelriess of Westfield, NJ; granddaughter Kate Scherr and her husband Mike of Long Valley, NJ; granddaughter Tiffany Kraik and her husband Andreas of Copenhagen, Denmark; grandsons Robert Baker and Steven Baker of Hampton, NJ; 9 great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
