Kathleen Verna Fallon
08/10/1927 - 03/02/2017

Kathleen Fallon, 89, of Union, New Jersey passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at her home. She was known to friends and colleagues as Kathie and many of her family members as Verna.

Kathleen was born on August 10, 1927 in Irvington, New Jersey and lived all but a very few of her 89 years in Union. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael and Kathleen (nee Kelly) Stecher.

She was both a parishioner of St. Michael’s in Union and a graduate of St. Michael’s School, and then Union High School. Kathleen was a graduate of Rutgers University with a Masters degree in Education after earning her Bachelors degree at the College of New Jersey, where she met the love of her life, Trenton’s Bill Fallon, who she married in 1951. Kathleen worked as a teacher for over 20 years, first in the Winfield Park and Springfield Public Schools, then, years later as a widow and empty-nester she resumed her teaching career at the Pingry School in Short Hills, retiring in her late 70’s.

She greatly enjoyed arts and crafts, ceramics, needlepoint, and knitting, and her works can be found in hundreds of homes around the country displaying her handmade gifts. She was a fantastic piano player and singer. Kathleen was an avid reader, particularly of history and proud of her Irish heritage. She was a proud and patriotic American, exemplifying the greatness of the greatest generation.

Kathleen lived a life that was long and full, earning the love and admiration of so many people she touched in her roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, in-law, friend, neighbor faculty member and teacher. She will be sorely missed, as will her many times per year greeting card mailings to those listed above.

Kathleen was predeceased by her husband, William C. Fallon, Sr. and daughter, Michelle Kasouf. She is survived by her son, William C. Fallon, Jr. and wife Helen, son-in-law, Chickery Kasouf, grandson, Patrick and granddaughter, Jane, and beloved adopted shelter cat, Cedric, who will now be taking up residence at her son’s house and hopefully befriending their dog Rusty.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Bradley, Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Ave., Union, NJ 07083. A prayer service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. An interment will follow at Hollywood Cemetery, Union, NJ. In Kathleen’s memory, donations can be directed to the Union Township Animal Shelter, 980 Jefferson Ave, Union, NJ 07083.
