Katherine F. Griffin, 89, of Springfield, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Friday, October 11, 2019 at her home.
Katherine was born on April 1, 1930 in Newark, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael J. and Sarah A. (nee McGuire) Griffin.
She was a graduate of St. Vincent’s Academy, Newark, NJ and Berkeley Secretarial School, East Orange, NJ. She also attended Kean College, where she took night classes.
She started her career in New York City and later worked for lawyers in Newark, NJ. Katherine worked as a secretary at Wells Fargo, Newark, NJ. She was parishioner of St. Rose of Lima, Short Hills, NJ, where she was a member of the Life-Lighters and held various positions; secretary, treasurer and board member.
Katherine is survived by her beloved sister, Mary G. Shanahan of Springfield, NJ and many cousins and the Shanahan family.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Avenue, Springfield, NJ 07081. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:15 am at St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Avenue, Short Hills, NJ 07078. An interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ.
