~~Julia D. Caffrey, 97, of Millburn passed away on September 18, 2016. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Ave in Short Hills on Wednesday, September 21st at 10:00am. Entombment will follow at St. Teresa Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit at Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Ave in Springfield from 8:30 to 9:30am prior to the Mass.
Born in New Providence, the daughter of Frank and Rose Di Muccio, Julia was raised in Summit where she graduated from Summit High School. She had lived in Millburn since 1939. For many years Julia was a bus driver for the Millburn School system. She was a founding member of the Millburn Civic Association and during WWII was a Civil Defense First Aid Instructor. Julia was a County Republican Committee Woman for forty years and was a member of the Millburn AARP.
Julia was the beloved wife of the late John J. Caffrey, Sr. She was the loving mother of John and her daughter-in-law Kathleen Scully. She is also survived by her cherished granddaughters Shannon Coulter and Rachel Venckus, 5 great grandchildren and her brother Frederick Di Muccio. In lieu of flowers, donations in Julia’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
