Joseph R. Conte, 79, of Morris Plains, New Jersey passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2015 at home surrounded by his family.
Joseph was born on November 30, 1935 in Newark, New Jersey. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert and Maria (nee Ferrone) Conte.
Joseph worked the majority of his career at Chubb Insurance, New York City, NY and also worked as a payroll manager for several years at Mount Olive Township. He loved football, especially the New York Giants. He enjoyed reading in his spare time. In his earlier years, Joseph was an excellent athlete with records still remaining unbroken in track and field at Westside High School, Newark, NJ. He was a parishioner of St. Christopher Church, Parsippany, NJ.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Rita Ferdinandi Conte. He was the father of Cynthia Bohri and husband Bill, Tina McKernan and husband Kevin, and JoAnna Conte. He was the cherished grandfather of Kristen, Karly, Giana, Camryn, and Joseph. He was also survived by his sister, Norma Timpano Rossomando and sister-in-law, Carol Conte. He was predeceased by his brother, Albert Conte.
A visitation will be Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Road, Whippany, NJ 07981. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:45 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2015 at St. Rose of Lima Church, 316 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ 07936. An entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ.
