Joseph G. Marcel, 88, of Chatham, passed away at Sunrise Senior Living in Basking Ridge on July 5th. Funeral Services are private.
Born in Fargo, North Dakota, Joseph had also lived in California before moving to Chatham in 1961. He had attended U.C.L.A. and graduated from U.S.C. with B.S. and B.N.S. degrees. Joseph had served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy in both WWII and Korea. A Senior Vice President in the Loss Control Dept. at Chubb & Son Insurance, he retired in 1987 after 30 years. Joseph was a member of the Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Registered Certified Safety Professionals, and the Casualty Council of Underwriters Laboratories. He was also a member of the Chatham Township Volunteer Fire Department and Kiwanis Club of the Chatham’s where he served as past president.
Joseph was the beloved husband of 58 years to the late Virginia. He was the loving father of Richard and wife Bernadette, Yvonne Rude and husband James, Michael and wife Donna, and Kathleen Wilson; cherished grandfather of Joseph Marcel and wife Christina, Danielle Zinn and husband Michael, Allison Diaz and husband Manuel, James Rude and wife Kseniya, Jennifer McKinney, Kimberly Paccione and husband Matthew, Melissa Minter and husband Jeremy, and Andrew Marcel; dearest great grandfather of Emma, Lucia, and Zoe Colombo, Owen Diaz, Matthew and Madison Marcel, Ryan and Sofia Rude, and Hudson and Morgane Zinn.
