Joseph G. Gabriel, 95, of Toms River, NJ, passed peacefully on November 4, 2017. Born and raised in Elizabeth, Joseph lived in Roselle Park for many years before moving to Toms River. Joseph served proudly in the Coast Guard during WWII in the Pacific Theater on a LST19 transport. He was the co-owner of Park Painting for 25 years, before joining the International Brotherhood of Painters Union. Joseph was a member of the VFW (former commander), Jack & Lee Ragland Post 9119, Roselle Park, NJ, VFW Post 8352, Toms River, NJ, American Legions Post 129 Toms River, NJ, ELKS in Toms River, NJ, and the Silver Ridge Park North Homeowner’s Association. He was also a huge Notre Dame Football fan. Joseph is pre-deceased by his wife Dorothy Gabriel (nee Engesser), and his son Dennis Gabriel. He is survived by his two sons, Ronald W. and his wife Linda of Union, NJ, Gary R. and his wife Ellen of Roselle Park, NJ, two granddaughters, Kelsey Espinosa of New Providence, NJ, & Erika Gabriel of Brick, NJ, 4 grandsons, Bryan of Morris Plains, NJ, Ryan of Brick, NJ, Robert of Edison, NJ, & Connor of Roselle Park, NJ, his sister, Virginia Santa Maria of Menlo Park, NJ, his daughter in law Maureen Gabriel of Brick Town, NJ and his dear friend Emily (Peggy) Schultz. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 10:15 am at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Union.. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Toms River, NJ. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, November 7th, from 3 to 8 pm at the Bradley Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Ave. Union.
