Jose’ Lopes’ Barreiro, 89, passed away Tuesday June 20, 2018 at the Cornell Hall Care & Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness.
He leaves his wife of 62 years Florence (Zimmerman) Barreiro & 6 children Anthony (Carol), Keith (Jeannie), Lawrence (Marianne), Melinda (Nelson), John & Joann. His Brother Manuel (Alice) and Sister Maria (Alfred), & many nieces & nephews. 17 Grandchildren and 13 Great-Grandchildren.
Born November 17, 1928 in Minu’ Portugal to Antonio Lopes’ Barreiro and Rosa (Rodrigues-Afonso) Barreiro, Jose was raised on a farm until he was 21 years of age. He moved to America and lived in Newark, NJ Ironbound Section until he married. He had also lived in Hillside, NJ with wife and children years later moved to Union, NJ until present. He worked for Conrail Railroad as a foreman and retired at age 62. He was retired 27 years. He loved to Garden, Play Chess, The Lottery, loved to watch Golf, Baseball and Old Country Westerns for his enjoyment.
All friends and family are welcome to attend. Viewing Monday June 25, 2018 from 4pm until 8pm. Service Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 11:00am at Bradley, Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Ave. in Union NJ.
