John Walter Tully, died on Thursday, February 21st, 2013 at his Seabrook Island, SC home. He was 69 years old.
John was born May 13, 1943 to the late John Joseph Tully and Ann Capik Tully in Newark, NJ. He grew up in Caldwell, NJ where he attended Immaculate Conception High School. John graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in 1965 then served in the United States Navy aboard the Richard S. USS Edwards. He then obtained his MBA at the University of Chicago. John later moved to Summit, NJ where he raised his family.
John was the Vice President for Corporate Finance at Paine Webber. Following his Wall Street career, he focused on his family, youth sports, where he was the President of the Summit Lacrosse Club in the late 1980’s and his private business interests. Upon retiring, he split his time between Summit and his home in Seabrook Island, SC. John was an avid golfer and active member at Baltusrol Golf Club and Seabrook Island Country Club.
John was a wonderful husband, loving father and devoted grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Smith) Tully; daughter, Megan Maddern (Scott) of Walnut Creek, CA; son, John Owen Tully (Amber) of Rocky River, OH; grandchildren, Russell Maddern, Sophia Tully, John “Jack” Edward Tully; and siblings, Sr. Clare Tully, SSJ, Christine McLaughlin, Richard Tully and Dennis Tully.
