John T. McCarty, 77, of Chatham, NJ, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2019 at home. He was born on June 30, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY.
John grew up in Brooklyn, NY until his family moved to Chatham, NJ in 1951. His family spent many summers at Lake Mohawk in Sparta, NJ. This is where he met his wife Gail. They wed on November 13, 1965. They lived in Chatham, NJ where they raise their 2 children John and Debbie. John was the owner of the family Customs House Brokerage firm, Dingelstedt & Co.
In addition to his parents, John is predeceased by his wife, Gail (Dobler), in 2005: Surviving are his son John, daughter Debbie Tole : A brother Robert and his wife Anne Marie and his sister Carol Fox and husband Edward: Son in law Robert and daughter in law Shannon: six grandchildren, Sean, Ryan, Robert, Alexander, Gavin and Morgan and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Chatham, NJ.
