John H. Alderton, III

John Henry Alderton III passed away on April 17, 2015. He was born in Evanston IL, lived in New York City and attended Trinity Pawling School in Pawling NY. He was a graduate of Babson College in Wellesley, MA. He and his loving wife Joan were married for over 60 years and resided in Florham Park for more than 55 years after living in both South Orange and Summit NJ. John joined the United States Army in 1954, was stationed in Alaska and Korea and was honorably discharged in 1956. He was a Sales Executive for Almac Plastics and was founder of J&J Plastics. He joined the Florham Park Volunteer Fire Department and served for 55 years in the positions of: Lieutenant; Captain; President; 2nd and 1st Assistant Chief; and as Secretary of the Florham Park Relief Association since 2002. John was recently honored by the Florham Park Fire Department as the recipient of the Clyde Zuksworth award. John was also honored at Trinity Pawling School as an inductee into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008. He volunteered for the Interfaith Food Pantry, and Community Soup Kitchen in Morristown. He was also a member of the American Legion. John was predeceased by his wife and their son James Buchanan Alderton. He is survived by his son Jack Alderton and his wife Edith, his son Jeffrey Alderton and his wife Lee Ann, his daughter Jill Imhof and her husband David, his grandchildren, Jay Alderton and his wife Melissa, Taylor Alderton, Cory Nordyke and her husband Mark, Bradford Alderton and his fiancé Maggie Mucha, Ryan Imhof, Andrew Imhof and Jessica Imhof, as well as his sister Edith Mutch and sister-in-law Nancy Howie and a host of nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends are invited to join the family for a Memorial Service on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 2:30 PM at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 144 Ridgedale Ave., Florham Park NJ.
