Jerry Meola

Husband, father, father-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, grandfather, “Poppi”, uncle, “Titzee”, cousin, fraternity brother, Vietnam Veteran, Yankee fan, Red Bull Soccer nut, Seton Hall Prep, Seton Hall University, Seton Hall Graduate School graduate, mentor, friend, golf partner, genealogist. Jerry Meola was all these things and so much more to all of us. He was the kind of guy who would email you an article about something you were interested in and mentioned to him only once. Gerald “Jerry” Meola, 68, of New Providence passed away on Monday, August 20, 2012 at Overlook Hospital, Summit, surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Newark, Jerry has lived in New Providence for 37 years. He worked for Arthur Andersen in Newark, and finished his career with Becton Dickinson & Company in Franklin Lakes. A veteran of the US Army, Jerry served during the Vietnam War. Jerry was a member of the Alpha Kappa Psi Fraternity, and a member of the Fairmount Country Club in Chatham. Survived by his wife of 39 years, Sharon (nee: Haggerty); daughters Karen Meola Canniffe and her husband John Michael, Jr and Jill Meola; granddaughters Neeve Alexandra Canniffe and Lucy Elena Canniffe; sister Joan Wiedman and her husband Douglas; brother Joseph Meola and his wife Phyllis. Jerry is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday August 25, 2012 at 10am at Our Lady of Peace Church 111 South Street, New Providence. Entombment will follow at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-5 & 7-9pm at the Wm. A Bradley & Son Funeral Home 345 Main St., in Chatham.
