Jean Braden Booth

Jean Braden Booth of Morris Township, New Jersey died on July 5, 2017, at the age of 90. Born in Jersey City, Jean was raised in Montclair, the daughter of the late James and Anna Braden. She graduated from Montclair High School in 1944. In 1948, she married George A. Booth of Irvington. They lived briefly in North Newark and Springfield before settling in Chatham Township in 1953. They moved to Morris Township in 2006.

Jean was a member of the Chatham United Methodist Church and, in earlier years, a volunteer in its many activities. She also volunteered in many ways in the three schools her children attended.

Jean was predeceased earlier this year by her husband of 68 years, George A. Booth, their first child, Katherine, then age 10 in 1962, and by her only sibling, Doris Braden Kidd in 2008. Surviving are three children: David and his wife Jane Garnett of Jamestown, Rhode Island, Mark and his wife Julie of Vienna, Virginia, and daughter Jane and her husband Stuart Thomas of Bernardsville, New Jersey. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Garnett (and his wife Supriya), Taylor, and Oliver Booth, Aaron Booth, and Katherine and Emma Thomas, and by one great-grandchild, Sienna Booth.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jean’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Jean’s wishes were to be cremated.
